Breck’s 210-unit affordable housing development in Thornton-Cleveleys has been awarded Affordable Housing Scheme of the Year at the Cowgills North West Homebuilder Awards.
The awards took place on Thursday evening (June 19) at New Century Hall, Manchester and recognised the work of small and medium sized housebuilders from across the North West to meet the region’s housing needs.
Breck’s development, on Bourne Road, Thornton-Cleveleys, completed in March 2025 – a year ahead of schedule. It has now been handed over to registered affordable housing provider Jigsaw and all residents have now moved in.
It was successful in the category against Calico Homes’s Kinross Street, Burnley and Andmore Homes’s Manchester Road, Walkden.
Dan King, technical director, Breck Homes said: “This award highlights Breck’s expertise in delivering increasingly large schemes to a high standard and ahead of schedule. The scale of this development required us to take a multi-phased approach to delivery, so residents could move into completed units while construction continued safely and efficiently on other plots.
“We’re proud of this recognition and thankful to Jigsaw, as well as Homes England and Wyre Council, who all contributed to the scheme’s success.
“We attended an official opening of the scheme earlier this month and it was heartening to see so many families, individuals and couples making Bourne Road their new home.
“We’re continuing to grow our pipeline of high-quality affordable homes across the North working with partners like Jigsaw.”
Construction at Bourne Road began in 2022 and the first occupiers begun moving into properties on the scheme in March 2023 while development continued.
The site, which includes a combination of one-to-four bed houses, bungalows and apartments, is both Breck’s and Jigsaw’s largest development to date. Jigsaw worked alongside Homes England and Wyre Council on the scheme, which has a total value of £25m.
