Our dedication to social value goes hand in hand with our commitment to sustainability. In 2025, Breck completed the industry-respected Next Generation Core review — an independent assessment that benchmarks homebuilders on sustainability beyond minimum standards.
Energy efficiency has long been a priority. Breck pioneered a fabric-first approach using 300mm wall build-ups and bespoke cavity closers, and in 2022 we launched a Future Homes pilot at Preston Road, Grimsargh.
The scheme combined:
The pilot delivered vital insights into underfloor heating pre-tubing, installation timing and supply chain logistics. Breck absorbed these costs to accelerate learning — passing the benefits directly to our affordable housing clients.
Across all projects, we:
We integrate low-carbon design, resource efficiency and social impact into every stage of the development lifecycle — from land acquisition and planning through to construction and occupation.
Our experience with low-carbon technologies spans more than 15 years. In 2011, we delivered two gas-free housing schemes in Cheshire in partnership with Your Housing Group, establishing a foundation for our future-focused approach.
In preparation for the Future Homes Standard, we have secured strategic supply partnerships with Vaillant, Mitsubishi and Viridian, ensuring consistent access to high-performance systems across our pipeline. Our mechanical and electrical contractors are fully trained in these technologies, and we provide structured training and resident engagement programmes to support long-term performance, behaviour change and energy efficiency outcomes.
To maintain regulatory leadership and assurance, our in-house technical team works closely with warranty providers including NHBC, Premier, Build Zone and ICW, embedding compliance, quality and resilience into every scheme.
Recent developments in Lancashire (51 homes for Progress Housing Group and 48 homes for Community Gateway) and Staffordshire (75 homes for Aspire) demonstrate our approach in action. Each scheme exceeds current Building Regulations, reducing operational energy demand, lowering carbon emissions and supporting households in tackling fuel poverty.
By combining early adoption, technical expertise and stakeholder engagement, Breck is delivering measurable environmental and social value — creating energy-efficient homes that contribute to resilient, sustainable communities.
Breck is committed to supporting community-led initiatives that generate meaningful social impact and contribute to long-term community resilience. Through strategic partnerships, sponsorships and staff participation, we actively support charities and programmes that align with our social value objectives.
As part of this commitment, Breck supported a fundraising initiative in partnership with Lancashire TAAG (The Autism and ADHD Group), where a member of our team, alongside volunteers, completed the Tough Swampy challenge to raise vital funds for the charity.
We also continue to support Kindness Counts UK, sponsoring its annual talent show, and are proud to partner with Alice Charity as a sponsor of the New Generation Impact Award. This award recognises young people making significant contributions to the voluntary and community sector and will be supported by Breck at the 2026 Hands of Hope Awards.
In 2025, Breck Homes delivered 790 Easter eggs to five children’s charities across our areas of development. Each charity – Holly’s Hearts, Alice Charity, Kindness Counts UK, Tiny Steps and Ruby’s Fund – received 158 eggs, creating moment of happiness for children who are unwell, facing challenges or in need of support. Such projects will continue to perform a key part of our community work.
We are proud to sponsor and participate in community-driven fundraising and recognition events. A member of the Breck team, alongside volunteers from Lancashire TAAG (The Autism and ADHD Group), completed the Tough Swampy challenge with Breck’s backing, raising vital funds for charity.
We also continue to support Kindness Counts UK, sponsoring its annual talent show, and we are delighted to partner with Alice Chairty in sponsoring the New Generation Impact Award. This award celebrates young people who are making powerful contributions to the voluntary sector – a cause we will proudly support at the 2026 Hands of Hope Awards.
For Breck, social value is never finished. It is the heartbeat of our organisation and rooted in our values and DNA. Our commitment will continue to define how we operate and contribute to the communities we serve.
