Breck has been appointed to a £500m framework for contractors and consultants in the North West social housebuilding sector.
JV North is a consortium of 14 housing association members, which has built over 10,000 homes since it was formed in 2007. It is aiming to build a further 3,000 homes over the next four years.
It works closely with Homes England as well as local authorities, local enterprise partnerships and investors build sustainable, affordable housing and benefit from economies of scale.
Breck has been appointed to the largest development category, for schemes with a Gross Development Value of more than £12m, alongside a range of national Tier 1 construction companies.
Being appointed to the framework streamlines the procurement process for affordable housing development contracts. Call-offs will begin on the framework in August.
Other companies selected in the £12m plus lot were Eric Wright Construction, Rowlinson, Seddon Construction, Termrim Construction, Vistry Partnerships and Watson Construction.
Andy Garnett, managing director, Breck said: “Since the framework was formed, its members have built affordable housing for more than 30,000 people, investing £1bn in the sector.
“Being appointed in the largest lot on a framework of this scale is a testament to the Breck’s growth over the past five years and highlights the reputation we have developed in the social housing sector across the North.
“We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality affordable housing on schedule and we’re looking forward to working the partners of JV North over the coming four years as we continue growing our development pipeline across the region and transforming communities.”
In addition to three separate lots for contractors, dozens of architects, engineering firms, employers’ agents and other companies have been appointed to JV North.
John Bowker, chair, JV North said: “Consultants and contractors play an intrinsic part in our success as a consortium, having helped us build over 10,000 homes since forming.
“We are really pleased with the quality and quantity of tenders received in what is our fourth framework and would like to thank everyone who applied. Competition was fierce with lots heavily oversubscribed.
“JV North is built on the strong foundation of partnership working returning better outcomes and this is certainly the case with our framework where contractors and consultants will help us build 3,000 homes at pace to meet the growing demand for housing across the North West.”
