Northern property developer Breck has made a large delivery of selection boxes and craft supplies to children’s charities across its key areas of development ahead of Christmas.
650 selection boxes have been donated, equivalent to the total number of beds across five children’s hospitals, meaning every child has received a selection box.
In addition, large boxes of craft supplies have been delivered to two separate children’s hospices for children unable to enjoy chocolate.
The organisations Breck has delivered to are Blue Skies Hospital Fund on behalf of Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Alder Hey Children’s Charity (Liverpool), Derian House (Chorley), UHNM Charity on behalf of Staffordshire Children’s Hospital (Stoke), Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity on behalf of Preston Royal Hospital, Manchester Foundation Trust Charity on behalf of Manchester Children’s Hospital and Brian House (Blackpool).
The donations were delivered by Breck staff in early December.
Andy Garnett, CEO, Breck said: “Since our formation in 2020, Breck has helped transform dozens of communities across a growing area of the North of England with our high-quality affordable homes.
“However, it is the people within these communities who are at the heart of what we do as a company. The seven organisations we have donated to touch the lives of Breck’s staff, clients and partners across areas that we operate in, through the care they provide to loved ones.
“This donation is just a small way of thanking each of them for the brilliant work they do for young people in these communities every single day.”
Breck is a Lancashire-headquartered housebuilder with a regional office in Leeds.
Its affordable housing division, Breck Homes, works in partnership with registered affordable housing providers to bring forward new developments of 25 to 300 units across the North of England and has completed more than 1,000 homes over the past five years. Breck also develops homes for open market sale on sites between 10 and 50 units.
Fiona Ashcroft, chief executive, Alder Hey Children’s Charity, said: “With gifts like these, we can go above and beyond to provide those extra touches that create a world of difference for our young patients during their time at Alder Hey.
“This donation is more than just selection boxes, it’s an example of care, compassion and comfort that helps our young patients feel more at ease during what can be the toughest time in their lives.”
Rebecca Moon, corporate fundraiser, Brian House Children’s Hospice, said: “At Brian House, making memories is a key part of the care we provide, and our amazing children love nothing more than getting messy in our dedicated craft room.
“For most of these wonderful children, their creativity is an important way of expressing themselves, as much as it is for all children, and their creations are treasured by their families as lasting keepsakes of these very special moments.
“We are so grateful to our friends at Breck for taking the time to consider what would truly make a difference to our children and their families and providing something that will not only provide hours of fun here at Brian House, but that will be appreciated for a lifetime.”
